TAM MEUWISSEN: FIVE FEET OF FURY

This coming February 18 to 23 Tam Meuwissen will be skating for the US Women's National bandy Team in the Women's World Championships in Oslo, Norway. This will be Tam's second World Championship for the USA as she made her debut in 2018 in Chengde, China.

But, playing bandy, skating for the USA, is only half of the time that Tam will be spending on the ice this winter.

In addition to playing bandy Tam Meuwissen is also the 7th ranked downhill skater in the world and a force in Red Bull's Crashed Ice Downhill Skating Competition after taking third place at last year's competition in Boston. Tam's biggest sponsor is a company called The Power House, a perfect fit as she has previously been given the moniker Power House.

The winter of 2019-20 will see Tam competing in Crashed Ice competitions in several Asian and European locations, including both the week before and the week after the Bandy World Championships in Oslo. Tam Meuwissen is clearly an extraordinary athlete and competitor. It is no surprise that she played 3 varsity sports in college for Gustavus, ice hockey, soccer and lacrosse, a remarkably rare accomplishment in the modern era of sports specialization.

Or that she has worked as a professional personal trainer who this summer ran the USA women's bandy dryland training. She is also employed full time by Optum as a Healthcare Economics Consultant. Throughout her athletic career Tam has also been nicknamed "Five Feet of Fury" because of the aggressive way she trains and competes. That is also how tall Tam is. It is the exact same height as her twin sister Sam, who is ranked 12th in the world in downhill skating. But it is only Tam who will be traveling from a Crashed Ice competition to Oslo for bandy and then directly on to another Crashed Ice competition.

Tam Meuwissen is without question both a power house and five feet of fury.
