The USA Legends bandy team had the surprise benefit of adding four of the top players in USA Bandy to an already deep line-up of certified bandy legends including Jeff Arundel, Paul Lundeen, Chris Halden, Steve Nelson, John Jensen and Steve Jecha. Adding the four “newbies” John Arundel, Mike Hosfield, Jon Keseley and Eric Kraska to the mix gave the Legends quite some added firepower. The Legends were surprisingly the only one of three teams to beat Canada last year so they were very fired up to win this year’s match.

Canada’s tight defense kept the Legends off the board for the first 15 minutes until Mike Hosfield finally got things rolling for the Legends with a goal and added another before half. Canada got on the board to make it 2-1 on nicely placed shot into the upper corner that went over Kraska’s shoulder. The USA struck again on a highlight film goal by John Arundel that was the result of several precision tick-tac-toe passes between Arundel, Jon Keseley and Hosfield that sprung Arundel in alone on the Canadian goalie and the third USA goal. Hosfield closed out the scoring with his third goal for the hat trick and the USA Legends had beat Canada again. Final score was 4-1. Hosfield’s hat trick was enough to have him declared Player of the Match. The team celebrated after the game at the Café Aster in Minneapolis, with Legend Jeff Arundel picking up the entire team’s tab to cap a great morning of bandy.
