For the 5th consecutive year the USA Women's National Team competed in the USA Men's Division 1 league. Prior to this season they had won only one game in the previous 4 years. The 2017-18 season proved a turning point. After returning from a successful World Championships in China the WNT rolled through the remainder of the season, finishing second in the league and then defeating Tsunami 5-4 in a shootout in the semifinals before playing a perfect game in shutting out defending champion East Isles 1-0 in the title game with Allie Thunstrom scoring the lone goal. In addition, the WNT defeated Norwegian team Ready in both games at the Oval played as part of Super Bowl Sunday festivities.
